Your GDPR Rights
Understanding your data protection rights under UK GDPR
Your Rights Under UK GDPR
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have several important rights regarding your personal data. This page explains these rights and how you can exercise them.
1. Right of Access
You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. This is commonly known as a "subject access request". We will provide this information within one month of receiving your request, free of charge in most cases.
How to exercise: Contact us using the details below, clearly stating that you wish to make a subject access request.
2. Right to Rectification
If you believe any personal data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request correction. We will update your information promptly upon verification.
3. Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten)
You can request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances, such as when:
- The data is no longer necessary for the original purpose
- You withdraw consent and there's no other legal basis for processing
- You object to processing and there are no overriding legitimate grounds
- The data has been unlawfully processed
Note: We may need to retain some data to comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax records for 7 years).
4. Right to Restrict Processing
You can request that we limit how we use your personal data. This may apply when you contest the accuracy of data or object to processing while we verify your request.
5. Right to Data Portability
You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. You can also request that we transfer this data directly to another service provider where technically feasible.
6. Right to Object
You can object to processing of your personal data based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes. We will stop processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.
7. Rights Related to Automated Decision-Making
You have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing, including profiling, that significantly affect you. We do not currently use automated decision-making in our services.
8. Right to Withdraw Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
